Academics

Six years of continuous science education, from Ordinary Level through four Senior Six specializations.

  1. 01

    S1 – S3

    Ordinary Level

Three years of general secondary education across the sciences and core subjects: the foundation every student builds on before choosing a science stream.

  2. 02

    S4 – S5

    Advanced Level science streams

Students choose between two combinations: MS1 (Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics) or MS2 (Mathematics, Physics, Economics, Geography).

  3. 03

    S6

    Senior Six specializations

The MS1 and MS2 streams branch into four final combinations: MCB, MPG, MCE, and MEG, each preparing students for national examinations and further study.

How science is taught here

Coursework is built to be practiced, not only read. Assessment includes project-based science work alongside written examinations: students carry out original studies and visit working sites relevant to their subjects, rather than studying science only from a textbook.

In practice

  • A biology study of the urinary system

Biology students carried out an original project-based study of the human urinary system as part of their coursework assessment.

  • A field trip to the Nzove water-treatment plant

Students visited Kigali's Nzove water-treatment plant to study water treatment as a working process, connecting classroom chemistry and biology to a real facility.
